Tian Zifang (6)

Buddha teaches us that we must guard the six sense organs – eye, ear, nose, tongue, body and consciousness; we must prevent our hearts from the disturbance by the temptation, binding and attraction in the objective environment.

Chuang Tzu taught us a similar lesson that we must guard our hearts. Don’t have preemptive view. Therefore, in facing what happened in the environment, we can do it at ease and well-founded. Chuang Tzu said, “Baili Xi had no utilitarianism so he bred his cattle based on the cattle’s interest. He didn’t feed anti-bio to his cattle; he didn’t inject his cattle with fatten dosage; he didn’t breed them in byre. Therefore, his cattle were healthy, vigorous and vivid.

When he applied to work for the Duke Mu of Qin, he devoted himself to serving people and the country. He did not feel himself humble and miserable since he was poor and had to live on the work for the duke.

Baili Xi’s great talent and bold vision made the Duke Mu forgot his rags but entitled him to an important task.

Also, Youyu Shi was so. When he was the leader of tribes union, he strived righteously for the tribe’s interest under the condition that outward power threatened him and inner malicious force coerced him. Hence, his tribes were moved and would like to cooperate under his leadership for the happiness and prosperity of their union.
