Xu Wugui (3)

1 Yellow Empire, accompanied by seven attendants, headed for Juci Mountain to visit Mr. Da Kui.

2 Yellow Empire’s carriage was driven by Fangming, beside Fangming are General Chang and General Yu, pioneered before the horse are two warriors, Zhangrou and Xipen, followed the carriage are other two warriors, Kunhun and Huaji as the rear guard.

3 Yellow Empire’s team got lost in the way outside Xiang City. None of the attendants knew how to go. They happened to see a kid who herded horses beside the road. Zhangrou and Xipen asked the way to the kid.

4 Zhangrou asked the kid, “Do you know how to reach Juci Mountain?”

5 The kid replied, “Yes”

6 Zhangrou asked again, “Do you know where Mr. Da Kui lives?”

7 Kid replied again, “Yes.”

8 Hearing the dialog, Yellow Empire felt curious, because it may be easy to know where Juci Mountain is; however, it is difficult to know where Mr. Da Kui lives. Mr. Da Kui is well-known as the man of practice; he has no fixed habitation and routine. How it is possible that the boy knows where Mr. da Kui lives in such a vast area. I am sure this boy must be a capable man too.

9 The purpose for which Yellow Empire took many attendants to visit there was nothing but to find a wise man to consult about governance. The kid looked wise. He perhaps could give him some precious suggestions.

10 So, Yellow Empire stepped down from his carriage. Coming up to the kid, he reverently made a salute, and told the kid the purpose of his visit and consulted him about governance. The kid was dauntless before the awe-inspiring bearing of the empire. He said calmly, “Governance is no more than to manage some people and tribes. Is it so difficult?”

11 When I was young, I liked traveling around but my health was poor. Once I met an old man of practice. He told me that as long as I live in the wild field outside Xiang City and keep the principle of simple and plain life style, working in the day and reposing in the evening, keeping from the worldly affairs. As my mood becomes sound, tranquil and peaceful, my health could become good. I have followed the instruction for years as what he said. Since then, not only my health is improved, the self-nature, Buddha-nature, Qi, calmness and refinement are given a full play also. Today, when I enter Samadhi, my spirit travels successfully around the universe. I become a man of perfect practice too.

12 I think that governance is as same as curing my disease. As long as you conform to the way of Nature, it becomes fine. No need for any special policy!”

13 Yellow Empire said to himself that thank god, today I have met a prominent man of perfect practice. I must take the chance to figure out the rule of governance. Yellow Empire said, “Sure. You have no responsibility for governance of the country. However, I am very sincere to consult you about it, for which my visit is worth.

14 Without reply, the kid turned and left. Then, Yellow Empire felt much nervous. Coming up to clutch the kid’s clothes, he entreated him for suggestions. Yellow Empire’s plea moved the kid so he finally spoke out.

15 He said, “Governance and herding horses are different in approach but equally satisfactory in result. If only you keep considering how to eliminate the disadvantage factors to the horses in herding, the horse grows well naturally. You should govern the country like this.” Hearing this, Yellow Empire reverberated like thunder and admired him very much. He bowed to the kid for his edification.

16 Yellow Empire said, “No doubt, you are the heavenly teacher who I have looked for. Now that I gain such edification, why do I go to Mr. Da Kui? All I have to do is that go back and carry out the advise. Thank you! Goodbye.” Then, he turned and went back to the capital.
